Finstar purchased 2.7ha of land adjoining the Mangere town Centre in conjunction with Foodstuffs NZ Ltd. Finstar completed the convenience retail development in February 2006 which included tenants such as TAB, Red Rooster, Blockbuster Video, Pizza Hut and Subway.

A former 3 Guys supermarket site of 7000 sqm located at one of the main entry points to Pukekohe, a community of 15000 people to the south of Auckland. The existing 2000 sqm building was refurbished to provide premises for 10 retail tenants including Foodstuffs Auckland Ltd’s first concept liquor store. A further 550sqm retail annex was built in the car park and the development includes a stand-alone pub, on sold as one lot in early 2007.

This property was purchased in early 2002 with a short-term lease in place to The Warehouse. Finstar on sold the property prior to settlement by using its development expertise to indicate to the market the value uplift available upon reconfiguration of the existing building and development land, should The Warehouse exit the property.

Finstar contracted to purchase the former Montana Distribution Centre in 2002 and subsequently introduced Urbus Properties Ltd, a listed Property Fund to the property. The sites potential for future redevelopment was evident and we had already sourced Bunning’s as an interested tenant for a DIY Megastore. Following the anticipated departure of the existing tenant, Finstar was appointed development manager to oversee negotiations with Bunning’s; resource management consent; preliminary design and feasibility analysis. The photos below are a testament to the projects success.

keeling Waitakere Plaza

Waitakere Plaza, Henderson, Auckland

In 2003/04 Finstar acted on behalf of Urbus Properties Ltd, as development manager for the redevelopment of Waitakere Plaza. The $14 million construction project involved the repositioning of the Plaza from a 19000 sqm Neighborhood Centre into a Bulk Retail format Centre. The role included overseeing preliminary design, feasibility analysis and obtaining resource management consent. We acted as development manager through to developed design including negotiated pricing of the construction contract. The project was subsequently able to be taken back in house for completion with the redevelopment as envisaged by Finstar completed in the 2006.
